Following Every Trend? Here’s Why That’s a Bad Idea

Trends are fun—until they make your brand forgettable. Here’s how to stand out instead.

We’ve all been there. A new trend pops up, everyone jumps on board, and suddenly… every brand looks and sounds the same. It’s tempting to follow what’s working for others, but here’s the thing—trends fade, and when they do, your brand risks fading with them.

The best brands? They don’t follow trends, they create them. Think about Apple, Nike, or Patagonia. They don’t constantly reinvent themselves to fit the latest craze. Instead, they double down on what makes them unique. That’s what makes them memorable.

Now, I’m not saying ignore trends completely. Some can work in your favor. But before hopping on one, ask yourself:
✅ Does this trend align with my brand’s values?
✅ Will it still make sense a year from now?
✅ Am I adding my own twist, or just copying?

If the answer is no, skip it. Build your brand around something timeless—your mission, your voice, your story. Trends come and go, but a strong brand lasts forever.
